A day with Barb, Balloons, and TREES!

So my friend Barb and I went to Dansville, NY for the Ballon Festival during Labor Day Weekend. The balloons were supposed to launch at 6:00 am, and 6:00 pm. So we decided we would go to the 6:00 am launch. Now, dear Barb, is HIGH maintenance. She lives 25 minutes away from me and in order to be at my house by 5:30 AM, she needs to be up up at 3:30 AM ????? So Barb gets to my house at 5:30, in shorts, a tank top, and sandals. I am in capris, a tank with a light weight sweater and sneakers. Barry says I should take a coat, but NOOOO Barb says "I am in shorts and a tank top. You'll be fine" So I listen to ....Barb. She is a smart woman.
We continue on to drive the 30 minutes to Dansville arriving just in time to see the launch. Now Barb has been to these before in Colorado. I have little idea what to expect. So we get out of the car and off we go. Well Barb puts her coat on, I am freezing!!!! We decided to go back to the car because there were no launches yet. Barb actually turned the heat on for me. Finally at about 7:30 the ballons launched. One and 1/2 hours late!!! So we got out of the car and Barb took photos (I was to darn cold). After most of the ballons launched, a couple of the vendors opened up and I bought a Balloon Festival sweatshirt. When all the balloons launched, we thought lets see what else is here. Well being that early only a couple things were even open. We thought we hit the jackpot with a pastry stand. Wrong again! So after getting up at 3:30 (Barb) and 5:00 (me), driving half an hour and watching 25-30 balloons launch, it was now 8:30. And like every event we go to these days, Barb always finds a man with Plumber's Butt, and can't take her eyes off it. Really What is that all about? Furthermore, Barb just loves the green and the trees. Squirrel!!!

Then we left. We weren't quite ready to go back home, so we went to Corning (more trees) and visited the Glass Museum. We actually saw equipment from Melles Griot, (cool) and many other unique pieces. All of which Barb could relate to something inappropriate. I can't even mention some of the ideas she came up with there.

All in all, we had a good time. Lesson learned, Barb loves trees, I don't. And the next Balloon Festival..... we go out west!!!!!! Maybe to ABQ with Rhoda

New Mexico August 07

Last August we went to Albuquerque, NM because we were considering relocating there for work. All 4 of us went. It was a beautiful area. There was the mountains, the desert, and you could see for miles. We went to a wildlife refuge, walked the side of a mountain, and rode a gondalia up to the top of one of the mountains. When we got to the top of the mountain, we were all cold because it was about 30 degrees cooler. We could see the whole city of Albuquerque from there. Barry and the boys went golfing and actually saw a roadrunner. We went to Santa Fe for an Indian Arts and Crafts show. The streets in Santa Fe were closed for all the vendors. The people were so friendly. AND it was very hot. It was sunny even when it was cloudy, it was beautiful. We visited Old Town, it was so cool. It is like a big park area surrounded by little shops and an old Catholic church. We were so torn about moving there. Obviously, we decided to stay here. The was just too much here for us to leave. We really are very fortunate. BUT, I still do not like Winter!! Anyway, here are some of our pictures. Enjoy!

what is she barking at?

OK, So Nala likes to get on the bed, and does when ever she can. Somehow I do not think you are surprised. :o)
So she was up on the bed and started barking. Who knows why or what at. Usually it is herself in the mirror, but not this time.
When she was done barking, she jumped down, grabbed a hat, and ran!
